Along with Lunitari and Nuitari, he did not join their fellow gods in the heavens, but chose to stay close to the world. He founded the Good Order of Sorcery, the White Robes.
Player
One of Ansalon's longest Imms; No, he's really not 12. Don't listen to what any gully dwarves tell you. Solinari was with the staff of Ansalon for over five years, we thought we had gotten rid of him, but he came back and they still haven't found a cure. *someone hides*.
All kidding aside, Solinari recently returned from the desert sands of a nasty land where he was fighting hard to keep networks from getting kendered. We cheerfully welcome him back to the US, and are quite glad to have him here...
. . . . <Transmission Interrupted> . . . .
. . . . <Uplink Established> . . . . .
. . <> . .Please ignore the ramblings of my little aghar friend, he must have chewed through his cork. Solinari is the master of Ansalon. When not working tirelessly at improving our beloved MUD, Solinari spend his time keeping the free world free. Obviously the most intelligent of all of Ansalon's Immortals, Solinari does tend to have a megalomaniacal streak to him, and is only slightly delusional. None of this keeps him from his favorite pastime though, constantly telling himself how great he really is. Now if he could just convince everyone else of this...
For you who know the acronym, he's HMFIC of Builder Port
Gilean

Character
Gilean is the patriarch of the neutral family of gods. He holds a book, the Tobril, that contains all the knowledge possessed by all the gods. All truth is contained within that single tome, but portions of it are sealed. Gilean's abode is believed to be the Hidden Vale, a perfect valley of nature that exists everywhere and yet nowhere. The ways to the vale are sometimes opened to those who follow the wisdom of Gilean.
Player
One of Ansalon's Implementors; Gilean is the only remaining founding member of Ansalon. He started mudding in 1995 on an early Rom MUD called "The Keep". After "The Keep" shut down in early 1996, he drifted from from DL mud to DL mud looking for the same type of RP/hack-n-slash environment. After a while of fruitless searching, a High School friend of his enlisted him to help start up a mud of his own. Ahotasu's AlphaMud became ... Ansalon.
Gilean's player is a pilot in the USAF, currently flying the WFFF, the F-15E. Aspirations include Test Pilot school, and eventually NASA.
Gilean drops in from time to time to help his project...
Now flying insanely new F20somethings!!!
Sirrion

Character
The god of flame and natural power, Sirrion is the guard of the neutral way and the bringer into being of nature. His companion is Shinare, the goddess of industry and creation from nature. They are traditionally seen as a quarrelsome couple and their disputes are of cosmic proportions.
Player
Sirrion is not currently being played.
Reorx

Character
Reorx was the hand by which all of chaos was brought under the direction of the gods in this place and time. He commands creation and techonolgy. Reorx forged the Greystone of Gargath, and is the father of the gnomes, dwarves, and kender.
Player
Once the main coder of Ansalon, a mentor to the current coder Zivilyn, and a great guy... Reorx still drops in from time to time.
Chislev

Character
Companion to Zivilyn, Chislev is nature incarnate. Both she and Zivilyn are said to dwell in Zhan, the grandest of forests. It is said that worthy elves go there when they leave this world for the next.
Player
Chislev is not currently being played.
Zivilyn

Character
Zivilyn assumes many different forms. Some have seen him as an old, balding man with a long beard. Though sighted, his eyes appear as twin windows looking out into space. Persons who gaze into those eyes learn their future, including the circumstances of their death. Others report Zivilyn as a prophetic child with black skin, white hair, and eyes of quicksilver. Recently, several scholars have even proposed that the ageless Astinus of Palanthas is a branch of Zivilyn. After all, Zivilyn may maintain several avatars at one time, and Astinus may be one of them. Other studies believe that Astinus is actually the Ansalon-bound avatar of Gilean, it may be that they both use Astinus, perhaps we'll never know. In whatever form, Zivilyn wields a simple wooden cane that obeys any command it is given.
Zivilyn, god of all wisdom, is the celestial Tree of Life. His branches and roots extend into all times and places. Much as Gilean holds the knowledge of the universe, Zivilyn holds its wisdom. He acts not according to the dictates of his mind, but according to those of his heart. Because wisdom is incomplete without knowledge and knowledge is incomplete without wisdom, Zivilyn and Gilean work closely together. Zivilyn is the companion of Chislev; most mortals view this relationship as a perfect marriage.
Player
I am one of the implementors, and the current owner of Ansalon, one of the wacko's coming up with the coding behind the game. I also am an avid player and role-player, as well as pker... may seem like an odd mix, but Ansalon is just that. Role play and player kill entwined, as it was since it's inception in 1996 from Ahotatsu's AlphaMUD, rising in the void left when 'The Keep' was no more, Ansalon has always had a vision of balance between the two very vastly different approaches to MUD playing.
A few years back we had a cataclysm of our own, the MUD split wide open when another IMP simply decided the MUD was now hers. We got kicked out of the sandbox that we'd built, but when your name isn't the one on the lease, there is little you can do about it. So I had to move our code and players to a new server, thank god for backups. If I hadn't been diligent about making backups every few weeks for those last 5 years... Well there wouldn't BE an Ansalon, the other one called it quits in 2006. But hey, that's history now.
Please note, AtO, the 'other' Ansalon is gone. Any player from there is welcome here with open arms.
As far as history in text gaming... I began playing 'Colossal Cave Adventure' back in 1979-80 as a near-teen. The game had me hooked, making maps of the place, figuring out what to do, where to go.. I even mapped those damned mazes... Colossal Cave Adventure (aka Adventure) was the very beginning of text games. Later, I played Zork, and Ultima on my trusty Commodore 64... (can you say geek?).
You will find helpfiles on Colossal Cave, and Zork in the game as they were the key things that started MUDding, and a great time for myself. Also, there are some easter eggs if you remove your light in the dark and look around, reminisce... :)
Much time passed, I found myself done with college and stumbled upon mudding, upon Ansalon (the brain child of Jason/Shane/Dave aka Jair/Deason/Ahotasu) and was hooked. Of the three, Jason does drop in on occasion to see how his prodigy is doing.
Ansalon has become home for many many players, fun, full of players, and the commands are still very obvious. A Merc/Diku/Rom player will still feel VERY much at home here, with many many things added. Things are changed and added very often as we strive to reach the perfect game, but in the process we make absolutely certain that gameplay is not sacrificed or adversely changed.
Enough about history.
As the current MUD owner, I'm here for the enjoyment of all the players, and for the betterment of the game. You won't find any 'pet' clans or 'pet' people on the MUD, just honest playing and a great time. You'll find I do contribute to the MUD community as well, in the form of some code, many posts, and a building/mprog section which is one of the best anywhere. Our mud often has people drop in just to talk about programming or building questions, we welcome those with open arms.
I handle the building documents, mprog/oprog/rprog documents, as well as help to run the builders port, the website, create headaches, er strike that (*grin*), I am the current coder for the place and am constantly looking to improve the game. To see the things we've done, see: the changes on Ansalon from 99 up to Today. Myself, and a few friends, have also been responsible for the mprog/oprog/rprog revolution upon Ansalon, bringing life to text.
My game is Ansalon, DragonLance at it's finest.
Shinare

Character
Shinare is the goddess of wealth, money, and industry. She is the favorite god of the dwarves, and is the patron god of merchants and commerce. Her companion is Sirrion, whose fondness for nature often runs against Shinare's desire for progress.
Player
Shinare is here! HE won't tell us much, but suffice it to say that his character gave my very first character a Globe when I started. He's very knowledgeable and runs some of the most fun quests.
Lunitari

Character
The sole daughter of Gilean, Lunitari is the god of neutral magic. She spins through the sky over the world and keeps a watchful eye on the balance of magical power throughout the world. Along with Solinari and Nuitari, she chose to stay close to the world and foster the growth of magic within. Lunitari founded the Neutral Order of Sorcery, the Red Robes.
Player
Lunitari is not currently being played.
Takhisis

Character
Takhisis, the Queen of Darkness, Dragon-queen, She of Many Faces - in all lands and cultures, her countenance has been the visage of evil. Takhisis led the shadows from Beyond and brought them to aid in the creation of this cosmos. Her deeds have ever since been a constant struggle to assert her rule over all creation. It is, in her view, only right and just that this be so. Sargonnas has been her consort since before the beginning of all things. Takhisis can appear in any form she wishes and often takes on a disguise. She is most often seen as either a five-headed chromatic dragon, or as a beautiful temptress, equally deadly in either form.
Player
Takhisis is another OLD player and kicks butt, more soon.
Sargonnas

Character
Little is known of the consort to the Queen of Darkness. He is the god of vengeance and often participates in plots for and against his Queen.
Player
Sargonnas is not currently being played.
Morgion

Morgion is the god of disease, decay, and plague. Always the lone warrior, he does not act with the other gods nor does he often discuss plans with them. Worshipers of Morgion meet in secret and dark places to do their foul deeds.
Player
Morgion is quietly hiding in the corner, waiting for a WoW raid...
Chemosh

Character
As the Lord of the Undead, Chemosh was called here to serve after being cast out from the Beyond by the High God. Takhisis saw his usefullness in her Scheme and rescued him from the Void of Chaos. Chemosh is the lord of false redemption; he offers immortality at the price of exaltation. Nearly all of the evil undead have at one time or another made a pact with Chemosh or one of his servants.
Player
Chemosh quit laying pipe
.No seriously, it was a job in Alaska hehe. Chemosh has been with Ansalon for ages now, and his humor is greatly appreciated by all. He now is a full-time student, so he really hasn't quit laying pipe, he just doesn't do it in the freezing cold of Alaska anymore.
Chemosh says '6'4" blue eyes willing to have threesomes with hot ladies'
Mel says '(something chastising in Ukrainian)'
Chemosh says 'Yes dear!!!'
Chemosh is one of Ansalon's implementors.
Zeboim

Character
Also known as the Sea Queen, Zeboim is the daugheter of Takhisis. Impetuous, manic-depressive, and constantly swinging to the edges of the emotional spectrum, she is the most tempermental of the gods, and by far the most dangerous to deal with. The is the queen of tempests and weather.
Player
Zeboim lives in the cold winter lands of northern Europe. Enjoys winter sports and traveling. Wishes to have more time to sail the gulf of Bothnia but will stay inland during the winter seasons. Also enjoys exotic dances, spicy food and video games.Zeboim is in Finland working on her Masters!
In her spare time she also enjoys outdoor activities such as exotic dancing, the tormenting of sailors, and a love of life in general.
Zeboim is back!
Hiddukel

Character
Hiddukel is a deal maker who trades in souls. It is said that he is the only being who can barter with the Queen of Darkness and come out ahead. He controls all ill-gotten wealth in the world, which he uses to corrupt greedy men. He is the patron of evil busniess-men, and thieves.

The twin brother of Zeboim, and son of Takhisis and Sargonnas. Nuitari left the ranks of Evil to join with the other two gods of magic, Solinari and Lunitari, in the forging of the Orders of Sorcery. Nuitari is the god of Black or Evil Magic.
